Tim's Fitness of Lititz buys, closes Manheim center
Tim's Fitness Center in Lititz acquired In Shape Fitness Center in the Manheim Shopping Center last month for an undisclosed price.
With the transaction, all 200 of In Shape members became Tim's members. Tim's also moved the In Shape equipment to its 105 Warwick St. facility.
In Shape's former 3,400-square-foot facility at 87 Doe Run Road is now dark and available for lease.
In Shape was opened by Jason Morrison about 18 months ago. Morrison declined to comment on his decision to sell the business.
Tim's owner Tim Diem said, "Morrison was looking to close the facility. In Shape is relatively close to us, and we can offer its members a larger facility with more classes and equipment," he said.
In Shape's staff, consisting of one full-time employee and several part-time employees, was given an opportunity to interview for positions at Tim's, said Tim's general manager Mark Krug.
Prior to housing In Shape Fitness, the Doe Run Road location had an Anytime Fitness franchise that opened in 2003.
Tim's Fitness Center, established in 1982, is a 12,000-square-foot facility with about 1,700 members.
