Program puts focus on fitness and health
The Fairfield Community Services Department will conduct "Fit-In," a nutrition and fitness program next fall at all 21 after-school program locations.
Students will participate in at least 10 science-based nutrition education lessons and 10 physical fitness activity sessions designed to teach skills that lead to lifelong participation in sports and outdoor fitness activities.
The Youth Activities Division of Community Services is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $20,000 grant from Kaiser Napa-Solano Community Benefit to support this effort.
Ann Wall, Youth Activities Manager, said, "We are grateful for this funding and are hopeful that the knowledge gained by our "Fit-In" participants will lead to better lifelong personal decisions in the areas of healthy eating choices and more active lifestyles."
This grant enables the Youth Activities Division to continue doing just that by tackling the problem of child obesity and promoting healthy life choices.
